Dark Angels and the Night Lords. Fear vs Fury.

Dark Angels and the Night Lords. Fear vs Fury.

Lion El’ Johnson and his retinue fallow a rumor hinting the presence of The Fallen on an abandoned manufacturing planet. Upon arrival inside the Manufactorum Primus, a message is cast to their vox channel: “Loyalist dogs… we have come for you”. A blood-curdling screech rings through the facility. The Lion addresses his retinue: “Prepare yourselves, my children, the sons of The Night Haunter have come to greet us.” Will the Dark Angels fend off the psychotic heretics and escape this factory of horrors, or become new flesh ornaments for the 8th?

Across the factory floor

Across the factory floor the Dark Angels dispersed in anticipation for the Night Lords’ imminent assault. However, the Astartes would not wait long. From the shadows of dark corridors and cold machines, they came. The Night Lords pounced upon their loyalist cousins in a whir of jump pack engines, revving chain swords, and sparking power claws. Alongside their strike force of several legion Claws, Raptors, Warp Talons and ravenous cultists, the sons of Curze utilized the might of a Forge Fiend daemon engine, who’s infernal cannons quickly dispatched one of the two Dreadnoughts in the Lion’s retinue. With the fall of their honoured brother, the warriors of the Death Wing rallied to avenge the ancient of the chapter.

In a counter attack

In a counter attack, the Dark Angels managed to cut down two squads of heretics. However, as the tides began to shift in the loyalists’ favor, the Night Lords disabled the remaining power in the facility. The Manufactorum became a reflection of the 8th’s sunless home-world of Nostramo. Every inch of the facility drowned in the heretics’ dark cowl.

In the darkness

In the darkness, the heretics grew in ferocity and accuracy. Utilizing their Prey Sight in addition to the dulling of their cousins’ vision, the heretic Astartes began to butcher with impunity, felling several Death Wing Knights and Eradicators in rapid succession. Unfortunately for the blood-thirsty renegades, this moment of triumph would be short-lived. Amidst the chaos in the pitch blackness of the mechanical graveyard, the Astartes were granted enough time to locate and repair the sabotaged power system, bathing the facility in the light of the Emperor and drawing back the dark veil from which the heretics sought succor. With renewed vision and resolve, the Unforgiven rallied and charged their assailants with the Lion’s ferocity. The Lord Primarch flashed through the hungering Raptors in a whirlwind of strikes alit by Fealty’s glimmering, razor-like edge. Having witnessed their brethren annihilated before their eyes, the remaining Raptors withdrew to the safety of the rafters to escape the Primarch’s blade. The hunters then set their sights on the lesser of their quarry in an effort to slowly pick away at the remaining loyalists.

Like a bolt of lightning

Like a bolt of lightning, the Raptors and remaining Warp Talons descended upon their cousins in a final assault. With the combined power of the Warp Talons and their remaining cultist followers, they tore apart one of the two Chaplains in the Primarch’s company. Witnessing the horrid evisceration of his brother, Asmodai, the Master of Repentience and his Blade Guard ripped through the cultists and Warp Talons with righteous fury. The heretics of the 8th Legion had been defeated. However, despite their victory in battle, the remaining forces of the 1st Legion were left once again chasing shadows with nothing to show for their labors but slain heretics, a fleeting sense of pride, and their battle brothers lying dead at their feet.

A hard fought and very close game. Final score being 33-29 in the Dark Angels’ favor. An epic confrontation ten millennia in the making.
